Deepslate Tools

Adds a full deepslate-tier tool set. The standout features are the hammer (3×3 AOE mining for stone & ore) and the excavator (3×3 AOE digging for dirt, sand & gravel) — each breaks an entire face of blocks at once.

Tools

All crafted at a vanilla crafting table using standard tool patterns with polished_deepslate + sticks. Recipe unlock: having cobbled_deepslate in inventory.

All tools are enchantable and repair with polished_deepslate (1 deepslate restores ~1/6 max durability).

Deepslate Pickaxe 4 200
Deepslate Axe 4 200
Deepslate Shovel 4 200
Deepslate Hoe 4 200
Deepslate Sword 6 200

The excavator uses chiseled deepslate (not polished) so its recipe doesn't clash with the pickaxe.

Hammer — 3×3 AOE Mining

When the hammer breaks a "hammerable" block, it also breaks the 8 surrounding blocks in the same plane (the full 3×3 face) — all with their normal drops.

Hammerable blocks include: stone, cobblestone, deepslate variants, ores, bricks, ice, packed ice, and most other stone-type blocks.

A full 3×3 swing costs about 5 durability (the center block plus its neighbors, charged at a discount). Unbreaking stretches that a lot further — see Enchantments. Keep a repair supply of polished deepslate handy.

Excavator — 3×3 AOE Digging

The excavator is the hammer's earth-moving cousin: breaking a "shoveable" block clears the full 3×3 face of shoveable blocks at once — ideal for digging out sand pits, gravel, and foundations.

Shoveable blocks include: dirt, grass, sand, gravel, clay, snow, soul sand/soil, mycelium, podzol, concrete powder, and similar.

It digs deliberately slowly — each block is slower than a normal shovel. The wide area is the payoff, not raw speed. A full 3×3 swing costs about 5 durability, the same discounted model as the hammer.

Enchantments

All deepslate tools accept their usual enchantments from an enchanting table or anvil. A few notes specific to this set:

  • Efficiency, Unbreaking, Mending — all work as expected. Unbreaking genuinely stretches durability here, so it's especially worth putting on the hammer and excavator.
  • Fortune / Silk Touch on the hammer & excavator — only the block you actually aim at benefits. The 8 surrounding blocks cleared by the AOE drop their normal loot (no Fortune/Silk). Consider it the fair price of breaking nine blocks at once — for a max-Fortune yield on a specific ore, mine that block directly.
  • Sword enchantments (Sharpness, Looting, etc.) — fully standard.

Hammer Debuff

When the hammer-holder takes a hit, they receive: - Mining Fatigue V for 5 seconds - Weakness III for 5 seconds

Flavor for the hammer's weight — swap to a sword before combat.
